The Golden Globes are here! Yesterday the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominations for the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards which will be held on January 6th, 2019. With two of TV’s brightest stars\u00a0— Brooklyn Nine Nine<\/em>‘s Andy Samberg and Killing Eve<\/em>\u00a0lead Sandra Oh, the show is sure to be a treat, whether you’re a film or TV enthusiast.\u00a0This will mark Oh and Samberg\u2019s first time co-hosting together, though the pair did previously present an award together at the Emmy Awards in September.<\/p>\n

As with every awards show nominations, there were plenty of expected accolades, surprises and snubs! Here’s what you need to know:<\/p>\n

The Americans <\/strong><\/em>finally gets a Best Drama nomination<\/strong>
\nAcclaimed as one of the best dramas of the decade, The Americans<\/em>, which ended this year, finally gets a nomination, after Keri Russell and Matthew Rys were both nominated for their lead performances last year.<\/p>\n

Maniac<\/em> fans will be disappointed<\/strong>
\nOne of the biggest and most star-driven shows this year, Netflix’s Maniac<\/em>\u00a0was notably missing among nominations.<\/p>\n

Atlanta<\/em> snubbed<\/strong>
\nAtlanta’s<\/em> Robbin Season, acclaimed by fans and critics, feels like the biggest snub this year in the Best Comedy category, with a nomination instead going to Netflix’s The Kominsky Method<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Lead Actor in a Drama category<\/strong>
\nSterling K. Brown, last year’s winner for lead actor, was not nominated this year for This is Us<\/em>, a show that was surprisingly completely ignored. However, new names join this list of nominations: Richard Madden for Bodyguard<\/em> and Stephan James for Homecoming<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A new TV award<\/strong>
\nThe Hollywood Foreign Press Association also announced the addition of a new award for TV – “Special Award for Achievement” to recognize the highest level of achievement in TV.<\/p>\n

On the film side,\u00a0Vice<\/em>, starring Christian Bale as former Vice President Dick Cheney, scored six nominations, the most of any film, including best musical or comedy. If Beale Street Could Talk<\/em>, director Barry Jenkins’ follow up to his Oscar-winning Moonlight<\/em>, received 3 top nominations, including Best Drama. Fans can watch Vice<\/em> on December 25th and Beale Street<\/em> on December 14th, with just enough time before the awards show. The Favourite<\/em>, Green Book<\/em>, A Star is Born<\/em> also received five nominations each.<\/p>\n
